Skin irritation test / Skin tolerability test is a dermatological test for assessing the skin's tolerance to the product. The independent dermatologists examine the skin of the test subjects for signs of irritation after application of the product. Dermatologists see signs of irritation such as redness, swelling, bumps, blisters and skin damage. Based on the results, the product is classified as either non-irritating, slightly irritating, moderately irritating and highly irritating. 

The ANTI-AGE studies are carried out with advanced and recognized measuring instruments that provide objective and quantifiable measurements. Common to the investigations is that the test subjects apply the test product to their face twice a day, as the only skin care product, for 8 weeks. Measurements are taken on day 0, and then after 8 weeks. The measurements are assessed by independent dermatologists and the results are obtained by comparing the examinations on day 0 and day 8.

Tightness and elasticity are biomechanical properties of the skin that are measured using a Cutometer®. Cutometer® is one of the most recognized and used measuring instruments in dermatology for assessing skin tightness and elasticity. The measurement takes place by exposing the skin to the pressure changes while the instrument's optical parts simultaneously measure the skin's ability to move.

Wrinkle length and wrinkle depth can be measured with a Visioline® VL 650 measuring instrument. The measuring principle is based on the skin's relief, and thus wrinkles, being replicated using a material called Silflo®. The wrinkles, which normally go down into the skin, will be raised on the replica like a microscopic "mountain" rising up. With the help of a special camera, the wrinkles are visualized and become measurable, so that with mathematical models you get quantitative measurements of wrinkle parameters such as depth and length of wrinkles.

Clinical studies on Dr.Ankerstjerne products have been carried out by independent dermatologists in a third-party testing laboratory in Poland.

The testers have received the product in a white sample tube without a logo or name, so they do not know which product or skincare brand they are testing.

The clinical studies have different setups depending on what is being investigated. In the long-term studies, the products are used as the only skin care product, morning and evening, daily for 8 weeks.

The results have been obtained by examining the test subjects' skin with, among other things, advanced 3D skin scanners and other measuring instruments, before and after the test period. No placebo was used. Instead, the results in the effect studies have been obtained by comparing them with the skin care routine that the test subjects used before.

Niacinamide, vitamin B3, is a powerful water-soluble antioxidant. Retinyl Palmitate is a vitamin A acid derivative that is converted into active vitamin A in the skin. The group of vitamin A acid derivatives are effective anti-aging ingredients that help to reduce wrinkles by promoting the growth of new skin cells. Retinoids are also effective in acne and help with clogged pores / comedones.

Some retinoids including the highly active forms can be very irritating to the skin. We have chosen to use Retinyl Palmitate in SUPERFOOD, as the side effect profile of Retinyl Palmitate causes less local irritation than is the case for other vitamin A acid derivatives. Retinyl Palmitate causes the skin's barrier to weaken to a lesser extent and does not increase UV sensitivity or irritation/inflammation. Retinyl palmitate can therefore be used daily, all year round. Retinyl Palmitate is better suited for sensitive skin than other vitamin A acid derivatives.

Because of. content of vitamin A, SUPERFOOD should be avoided during pregnancy.

Tocopherol is a naturally occurring form of vitamin E. Vitamin E is an important antioxidant in the skin that counteracts oxidative stress caused by the many environmental, chemical and physical factors that the skin is exposed to every day. By fighting free radicals from daily stressors such as UV and air pollution, it protects the skin from the harmful effects of oxidative stress, including premature skin aging and pigment damage.

Extract from the Scandinavian superfruit sea buckthorn is rich in antioxidants and, among other things, has a high content of natural vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin against the harmful effects of oxidative stress, including premature aging of the skin and pigment damage.

Sea buckthorn extract improves the skin's elasticity and moisture content, adds glow to the skin and has positive effects on irritated skin.

Glycerin has a moisturizing effect and improves the skin's moisture balance and function. Glycerin works by drawing moisture into the top layer of the skin when it is applied. Through its moisture-binding properties, Glycerin can help reduce irritation and improve the skin's elasticity.
